  • The british composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875 – 1912) was a violin playing prodigy, who studied music at the Royal College of Music at 15 years of age. He became very popular as a composer, and sought to incorporate in his work the musical influences of Sierra Leone, the native land of his father. His greatest success was the cantata Hiawatha‘s Wedding Feast. He died very young, at the age of 37.
