Joseph Eidson (b.1981) holds degrees in composition from the University of Kansas (DMA 2010, BM 2004) and the University of Texas (MM 2006).  His music has been performed throughout North America and abroad by the Metropolitan Wind Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, University of Texas New Music Ensemble, among others.

While he retains a passion for wind and string writing, the past two years have focused on vocal music. Works completed during this time include four song cycles and a chamber opera, as well as a horn concerto and a new work for wind ensemble.

His music has received awards and honors from Salem College, Vox Novus, Metropolitan Wind Symphony 40th Anniversary Competition, 2010 ASCAP Morton Gould Award (finalist), 2010 Opera Vista Festival (semifinalist), Aurora Borealis Duo Composition Contest, Dallas Wind Symphony fanfare competition, and many others.

He has studied composition with Dan Welcher, James Barnes, Donald Grantham, and Forrest Pierce.

Joseph and fiancée Julia live in New Cumberland, PA with their feisty cats Gabby, Winston and Moose who enjoy sleeping on top of any available manuscript paper when not being fed. Currently Dr. Eidson is on the faculty at Bucknell University teaching courses in theory and composition.
